
This course addresses the theoretical and practical foundations of information retrieval from both traditional and digital sources. It aims to equip students with a clear understanding of documentary research strategies and to help them distinguish between classical and electronic research tools, while developing practical skills in using search engines, catalogs, electronic portals, and both restricted and open-access databases.
The course also covers basic and advanced search techniques, methods for using open-access journals and institutional digital repositories, and an introduction to semantic search engines and data mining techniques for knowledge extraction.

The History of Algeria course provides students with a comprehensive study of Algeria’s development from the Ottoman period to post-independence, focusing on state-building, resistance to occupation, and the evolution of national identity.
The course aims to understand political and social transformations and to link history with the sociological analysis of contemporary Algerian reality.
