Algebra 2, or linear algebra, is a branch of mathematics concerned with vectors and matrices, their linear combinations, and operations. This course is destinated for the first year infomatics/ Mathematiques LMD.

At the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • Memorize the definitions, properties, and theorems related to vector spaces, linear mappings, matrices, and systems of equations.

  • Explain the fundamental concepts such as linear independence, dimension, the kernel and image of a linear map.

  • Compute a basis, the dimension of a space.

  • Analyze the structure of vector spaces and linear maps to determine linear independence, basis, dimension, and rank.

  • Construct a linear map with a kernel and a specified range.

  • Combine the concepts of basis and dimension to design new coordinate systems for given vector spaces.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of different concepts in solving problems related to dimension, basis, and linear maps.
