General Microbiology is a second-semester course designed for second-year undergraduate students in Life and Natural Sciences (SNV). It is intended for students specializing in Biological Sciences, Agronomic Sciences, Ecology and Environment, and Biotechnology. It has a coefficient of 3 and 6 credits.
Firstly, the course explores the importance of microorganisms in the living world. It then covers bacterial cells (structure, composition, etc.), bacterial nutrition and growth (culture media, trophic types, antimicrobial agents, etc.), bacterial classification, and finally, introduces basic concepts of mycology and virology.
